What better way to launch the exciting new brand for Downtown Tauranga than with a mail drop to 40,000 households in central Tauranga! We created a concept built upon “experience your city centre” which is about re-engaging with local residents and making them aware of the variety of things to do and see in their city. Downtown Tauranga is the biggest shopping and business destination in the Bay and our aim was to communicate their unique story, and give people a taste for what they can experience there over other shopping environments. From boutique and locally owned stores, the best events in the region, cafes, restaurants and nightlife, to theatre, movies, and hotels. We took these compelling elements and designed a brochure with a broadsheet format for point of difference. With an introduction that reinforced the essence of Downtown Tauranga, an events guide to show all of what’s on, dining & bars section with competitions plus arts & culture section and business directory. Along with our creative execution was the development of a sales strategy for advertising, implementing initiatives to measure cut-through, effective copywriting and photography.

We are thrilled to be working with Mainstreet Tauranga as their strategic marketing partners. Our first task was to evaluate and determine the future direction of their brand and to lift the perception with our key audiences being; local residents and visitors to the region. We wanted to create an ownable look and feel that would not only build their brand recognition but also inject some life and personality to reflect this thriving destination and what it has to offer. The result is a uniquely crafted typeface that expresses “sophistication” along with a strong and bold colour palette. “We’ve got it all” is a known catch phrase within the community with an equity we agreed should be retained. We took leverage from this positioning and developed this concept into a visual language that communicates their points of difference through engaging iconography and illustrations.

The launch of the Tauranga Export Awards for 2010 created an exciting buzz and the theme and concept for this year is going to be a hit! 1920’s gangster/flappers which we have developed into an inspiring and fun look and feel. The Art Gallery was a perfect spot for the evening with an opening speech from Trent, Charleston dance lessons and of course the very important kick-off for category nominations. We really enjoy being a key sponsor for this event and can’t wait until the big night in June!
